Remember how we said we were working on something exciting? Well, it’s almost here! Our family at Casa Sanchez is premiering our newest video series, ‘Mi Casa es Tu Casa’! Over the course of next week, we will be rolling out three videos featuring three of our favorite San Francisco restaurants.
Each chef is challenged to integrate our products into their own signature dishes. Did you know you can make a killer bread pudding with our Whole Wheat tortillas? Neither did we!
Let’s meet the chefs that are going to make these miracles happen:
#1 Kathy Fang // Fang Restaurant, SOMA
Kathy Fang was a shoe-in to kick off the series, Moo Shu that is! Much like our Sanchez family, Kathy’s family has been a part of the San Francisco food scene for decades. She grew up in her family’s restaurant and co-founded Fang with her father in 2009. Fang’s menu is a culinary journey through Northern and Southern Chinese cuisine with a contemporary American flare. She has invited us into her kitchen and is cooking up a savory Moo Shu Pork using our own Casa Sanchez Flour Tortillas.
#2 Miguel Escobedo // Papalote Restaurant, Mission
Next up is Miguel from the Mission staple, Papalote. Family is a theme in the ‘Mi Casa es Tu Casa’ series and Papalote is no exception. Miguel and his brother started Papalote in 1999 and both had the dream of creating a restaurant that evoked the feeling of the “the middle of la primera sección in Chapultepec, Mexico on a fine Sunday afternoon.” Papalote serves up traditional Mexican dishes with the freshest ingredients. Miguel had us over and cooked Huevos Rancheros, a traditional Mexican breakfast using our Pico de Gallo and Papalote’s own Roasted Tomato Salsa.
#3 David Lawrence // 1300 on Fillmore, Fillmore
We wrap up the series with David, legendary owner and chef of 1300 on Fillmore. Like Casa Sanchez, this is also a family affair, David’s wife Monetta can be found creating front-of-house magic at 1300 on Fillmore.David has a unique background of Jamaican and English heritage and French training and combines these influences into some serious culinary wonders! 1300 on Fillmore’s dessert menu is, well, to die for and it was only fitting that he create a sweet dish for the series.
David opened his kitchen to us and made one of the best bread and butter puddings we have ever had using our own Whole Wheat tortillas.
